Getting Started With The Basics
For any feral hog trapping operation to be successful you will need to implement several techniques. Before the trap is even setup scouting and surveillance will need to be conducted to pattern the hogs movement. Check the property for any hog signs such as rooting, wallows, trails, scat and mud rubs. Rooting is often the easiest sign to locate, but do not set traps in these areas. By placing traps over rooting sites bait will be competing with other food sources the hogs are already accustomed to. Instead, backtrack hog trails and find spots closer to bedding areas away from other food sources.
